Hello everyone! I'm entering another contest. This contest is being held by Chalkboard Nails and you can see the contest rules and guidelines here. To enter the contest you have the option to choose between a warm or cool color palette. Not both, just one. If you want to enter the contest make sure you read all of the guidelines because I'm not going over all of them.
The one rule that seriously killed me was that acrylic paint isn't allowed. I absolutely LOVE acrylic paint because it makes nail art so easy and I use it in almost every nail art design that I do. For this reason I was actually debating if I wanted to enter or not. After I thought about it though, I decided that it would be a nice challenge to do something out of my comfort range. So this is what I came up with for my entry.
The inspiration came from a friendship bracelet that I was thinking about making, but I still haven't had a change to get more string. I found it on http://friendship-bracelets.net and immediately I thought that it would be a great idea to use it as inspiration for my entry! I decided to use the cool colored palette because I personally prefer the way cool colors look in patterns and designs. This design kind of reminds me of tribal print, but I think I like the idea of Chevrons and Diamonds better.
Underneath the whole design I have a white base so that the colors I used would stand out more. The colors I used for the pattern were Sinful Colors Let's Talk (purple), Sinful Colors Rise and Shine (teal), Sinful Colors Savage (light blue) and Sinful Colors Midnight Blue (self explanatory, the dark blue). I like my color choices I think they worked together really well. I also think I did a pretty good job considering that I don't usually use nail polish for nail art patterns like this.
I'm really glad I decided to challenge myself and I'm really glad that I decided to enter the contest. There are a ton of great entries! There's some tough competition out there!!
After I finished doing these nails, I immediately thought.. "I'm an idiot. I should have done a tutorial for these before I finished them. People might want to see how I did it!" So I decided that I would just do my nails again to record the tutorial, but to record the tutorial I used completely different colors and I definitely used acrylic paint.
You can view the tutorial for how I did these nails below!
